The Alphabet Business Convention

The Alphabet Business Convention is a musical extravaganza that celebrates the legendary cult musician, composer and producer Tim Smith. Formed in the late seventies, his iconic band, Cardiacs, were a thrilling combination of post-punk rock and psychedelic pop. The convention is a gathering of affectionate friends and ex-Cardiacs band members performing in their own right. Knifeworld, fronted by Cardiacs guitarist Kavus Torabi, headline with their ‘dense, unwieldy, exhilarating and unpredictable’ psychedelia. Cardiacs keyboard hero William D. Drake performs beautiful and mysterious songs from his fifth solo album, ‘Revere Reach’. His So-called Friends (featuring Stars in Battledress) provide the full-band workout with percussion, guitar, hurdy gurdy, woodwind and intricate vocals. Redbus Noface, led by Mark Cawthra, bring an amazingly strange hammer to the head with special performances from Jo Spratley and Bic Hayes. Younger family members include Ham Legion and Heavy Lamb (both hailing from Brighton). Dangerous Girls are friends from way back. The evening will conclude with a Cardiacs engorged DJ set from the incredible Max Tundra: there will be no wallflowersExclusive and official merchandise will be available at the Consultant’s Memorabilia Collection by kind permission of the Alphabet Business Concern. All proceeds will go towards the ongoing care of Tim Smith who suffered a heart attack and two strokes in 2008.  – See more at: http://www.salisburyartscentre.co.uk/whats-on/Event.aspx?EventID=1343#sthash.BqGrjCWT.dpuf
